A software project preserves commits, issue discussions and dependency changes. The present system carries a visible history of decisions instead of concealing them behind a final release. The code is authored through strata. Test it by deleting one stage of the version history. If a later feature becomes impossible to explain or repair, the removed layer was structurally active.
